We are seeking a Sr.Manager, FS lead, APAC to lead and scale our food safety program across one of Amazon's fastest-growing and most regulatory-diverse regions. This senior leadership role carries direct accountability for ensuring that Amazon's food selection and operations exceed customer expectations while maintaining compliance with local, national, and regional food safety regulations across APAC markets.
The ideal candidate will combine deep food safety expertise with strategic vision, the ability to navigate complex multi-jurisdictional regulatory landscapes, and a track record of building high-performing teams. This is a high-visibility role with direct engagement with regional regulators, industry bodies, and Amazon's senior leadership, offering the opportunity to shape the future of food safety at scale in the APAC region.
Key job responsibilities • Set and own the strategic direction for the APAC food safety program, ensuring Amazon's food selection and operations consistently exceed customer expectations and meet all legal, regulatory, and Amazon-internal requirements across the region. • Build and lead a high-performing team of food safety professionals across multiple APAC markets, developing talent, setting the performance bar, and fostering a culture of ownership and customer obsession. • Engage with external regulators, industry bodies, and policy makers across APAC to shape standards, advocate for science-based policies, and position Amazon as a trusted and responsible food safety leader in the region. • Drive technology-enabled food safety solutions by partnering with Technology teams to design and implement industry-leading tools, automation, and data-driven controls that scale across diverse APAC markets. • Navigate regulatory complexity at scale, maintaining real-time awareness of evolving food safety regulations across jurisdictions (AU, JP, SG, IN, and emerging APAC markets) and translating requirements into actionable compliance programs. • Contribute to the global food safety and compliance organization by driving shared process development, cross-regional best practice adoption, and policy harmonization WW • Leverage AI and emerging technology to scale food safety programs, reduce manual overhead, and improve detection-response capabilities.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in food safety, regulatory compliance, or risk management in a multi-market or multi-country environment
- Proven people management experience, including building and leading teams of managers across geographically distributed locations
- Demonstrated experience designing and scaling sustainable, repeatable food safety programs across multiple jurisdictions
- Track record of engaging with regulatory authorities, industry associations, and policy makers at a senior level
- Strong program management capability with experience driving change across complex, matrixed organizations
- Ability to leverage technology and data to drive process improvements, operational efficiency, and scalable compliance controls
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and represent the organization externally
- Self-directed leader with critical attention to detail, ability to prioritize under ambiguity, and bias for action
- Availability for regular travel across APAC markets
- English language proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of APAC food law frameworks, including regulations in Australia, Japan, Singapore and/or Southeast Asian markets
- Experience in regulatory affairs within a food manufacturing, retail, or e-commerce environment at regional or global scale
- Demonstrated ability to engage with and influence food safety authorities (e.g., FSANZ, MHLW, SFA, FSSAI) at a strategic level
- Experience with online/marketplace/retail food safety models and the unique challenges of ensuring food safety in e-commerce supply chains
- Advanced degree in food science, public health, regulatory affairs, or related field
- Experience implementing AI or machine learning tools to enhance food safety monitoring, detection, or compliance workflows
