This role is for a Sr. Manager of Permitting & Licensing at Target. The primary responsibilities include providing leadership and work direction to a team managing permitting and reporting requirements (environmental, fire code, hazardous materials), obtaining and renewing licenses for store and distribution operations, and managing related budgets. The role also involves identifying team metrics, collaborating with internal business partners, managing large volume environmental reporting, and using data/automation to improve efficiency. The ideal candidate has a degree in a relevant field, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience with operational excellence and data-driven process improvement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide leadership and work direction to a team of compliance professionals responsible for a wide range permitting and reporting requirements including but not limited to environmental compliance (RCRA, EPCRA, CWA, CAA), fire code and hazardous materials storage.
  2. Provide leadership and work direction to a team of licensing professionals responsible for obtaining, renewing, and payment processing for all required licenses to operate stores and distribution locations; manage ongoing officer signatory requirements for liquor licensing.
  3. Establish team norms and best practices that maintain strong performance and flawless execution of permitting and reporting obligations to maintain compliant business practices across the United States.
  4. Identify team metrics and reporting capabilities to monitor capacity, identify trends, evaluate process effectiveness, and recommend improvements or solutions to identified risks.
  5. Establish trusted relationships with internal business partners, including (but not limited to), store operations, construction, legal and global supply chain; Work with the compliance program owners to understand, influence and implement permitting, inspection, and reporting strategy.
