Sr Manager, Solutions Engineering

Twilio is seeking a technical leader for a team of Solutions Engineers in their Twilio Communications business. The role reports to the Solutions Engineering Director, APJ and supports large and fast-growing companies in industries like marketing, business automation, and customer care. The Solutions Engineers are experts in CPaaS or CCaaS and act as key members of go-to-market teams, developing and optimizing customer engagement use cases with Twilio products. This role is highly cross-functional, integrating with product management, carrier relations, finance, and go-to-market sales and services teams. The manager will lead a team of Solutions Engineers, accountable for their development, performance, and operating model within the go-to-market organization.

What you'd actually do

  1. Partner with the Sales leadership team to set our strategy for finding, closing and supporting opportunities in our sales funnel and in our existing customer base.
  2. Work across functions to ensure collaboration for shared goals and appropriate capacity for your team.
  3. Build and roll out programs that enable the Solutions Engineers to scalably accelerate our funnel.
  4. Attract, develop, and motivate a team of hard-working Solutions Engineers, continually educating your team and seeking innovative solutions for improving your team.
  5. Ensure that your team has the support that they need to be successful as well as providing direct mentoring and guidance on a day to day basis.

Skills

Required

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience within the SaaS or CPaaS industry, inclusive of BS in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of previous people leadership experience or equivalent experience as a senior individual contributor / lead.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate strategic vision, inspire and influence others internally and externally at all organisational levels.
  • A strong understanding of the developer adoption cycle, as well as experience in the technology areas relevant to Twilio’s market: contact centre, IP-based telephony,messaging, real-time communications, security, authentication, email, scaling web and mobile applications.
  • Tech-savvy leaders, experience with cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services, GoogleCloud, Microsoft Azure) and cloud application architecture.
  • Experience with sales methodologies

Nice to have

  • Cross-functional experience in pre-sales or post-sales technical consulting, software engineering, or product management is a plus.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity with a proven ability to proactively solve problems.
