Sr. Manufacturing Engineer - Enclosures

This role focuses on manufacturing engineering for hardware products like Microsoft Surface and XBOX devices. Responsibilities include factory startup, process qualification, and sustaining manufacturing operations. The engineer will use predictive modeling to optimize manufacturing processes, drive yield improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex manufacturing challenges. A Master's degree in a relevant engineering field and 4+ years of manufacturing experience are required, with experience in statistical analysis tools and Six Sigma principles being preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Ability to work independently, directing and setting priorities for manufacturing partners to solve complex design, manufacturing and material challenges.
  2. Drive cost reduction and yield improvement initiatives.
  3. Partner early with NPI teams to identify design, process, and tools that are new, unique, or difficult and resolve manufacturing challenges by following DFx best practices and principles while staying current and versed in emerging technologies, materials, methods and manufacturing processes.
  4. Work closely with manufacturing partners to develop new or improved assembly fixtures and automation systems to enhance product quality and production efficiency.
  5. Communicate clearly with peers and leadership by distilling complex technical issues, outlining options, and presenting data‑backed recommendations

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment /repair
  • Experience with mechanical or enclosure manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of SPC, MSA/GRR, root cause analysis, FMEA, DOE, and reliability testing.
  • Experience using statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to use manufacturing and field data to drive quality improvements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with 3D design tools and other CAD suites such as Pro-E/Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Patent or track record of engineering excellence.
  • Design for Manufacturability, Failure/Data Analysis, Design of Experiments and statistical analysis using Six Sigma principles.
  • NPI (New Product Introduction) and manufacturing operations experience.
  • Experience with high accuracy automation system development and qualification.
  • Mandarin and Vietnamese will be a plus.
