This role is for a Sr. Manager of Communications and External Affairs for the LATAM region at Johnson & Johnson (DePuy Synthes). What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and execute integrated communications and external affairs strategies for the LATAM region aligned with business priorities
  2. Lead creation of high-quality internal and external communications, including media materials, leadership messaging, and digital content
  3. Manage relationships with media, government entities, and key external stakeholders to support reputation and policy objectives
  4. Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on communications planning, messaging, and risk mitigation
  5. Drive proactive storytelling to enhance brand awareness and position the business as a thought leader in the market

Skills

Required

  • 8-10 years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or external affairs functions
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing regional or global communications strategies
  • Strong media relations and stakeholder engagement experience, including government or public sector exposure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex topics into clear messaging
  • Experience managing issues, crisis communications, and reputation management initiatives
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence senior stakeholders across regions
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Portuguese proficiency required

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting communications in Latin America or working with cross-cultural, multinational teams
  • Background in healthcare, medical devices, or regulated industries
  • Experience leading or mentoring team members
  • Familiarity with digital communications strategies, social media, and content development
  • Experience working with advocacy groups, trade associations, or policy organizations
  • Proven track record of building brand awareness and thought leadership initiatives
  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA or MA in Communications/Public Affairs) preferred
