This role is for a Sr Operations Manager on the Amazon Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team, focusing on speech and language solutions. The manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and supporting a team, creating operating plans, implementing processes for scaling, hiring and developing talent, fostering a coaching culture, and improving operational metrics. The team provides speech recognition capabilities and data labeling services for ML models.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with internal partners to build input-focused operating plans for achievement of key measures
  2. Create a culture where accountability, transparency and collaboration are the norm and where rapid deep dives into root causes of defects is a standard operating practice
  3. Develop, implement, or change processes as necessary to allow the team to scale at an accelerated pace, while managing cost and without impacting customer experience
  4. Implement bar-raising programs aimed at hiring and developing top talent and build career development road-map for site operations teams
  5. Inspire front line teams to go beyond the standard “call of duty” to find creative solutions for our product issues; encourage risk-taking and advocacy on behalf of product teams.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree, or Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or related field
  • Experience managing and developing high performance teams
  • Experience blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement
  • Experience in developing future leaders and creating tailored succession plans

Nice to have

  • Master's degree, or MBA
  • Knowledge of standard speech and machine learning techniques
  • Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt certification
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse talent within a team, work cross-functionally, and build consensus on difficult issues
