Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Communications/Co-site Electronics Engineer in Melbourne, FL to support the development and integration of RF Subsystems. Responsibilities include requirements analysis, CEM antenna analysis, trade studies, risk analysis, supplier management, and testing. Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8 years of experience or a Master's with 6 years, knowledge of RF spectrum, CEM analysis, and experience with airborne military communication systems. A Secret clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support development and integration of communications and other RF subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
  2. Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation translating customer requirements into derived specifications
  3. Perform Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) antenna analysis for source/victim (co-site) analysis
  4. Conduct detailed trade studies
  5. Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation plans and track to closure

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering, or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of related professional/military experience
  • Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)
  • Ability to design, select and characterize RF components to meet mission objectives
  • Experience in Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) antenna analysis for source/victim (co-site) analysis
  • Designing, integrating, testing, installing, operating LOS and BLOS communication systems in airborne military applications
  • Experience with voice, military and network waveforms
  • Experience with cryptographic implementations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
  • Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
  • Experience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar tools
  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience in supplier/subcontract management
  • Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations
