Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Electro-Optics Infrared (EO/IR) Engineer to join their team in Melbourne, FL. The role involves developing novel solutions for EO/IR sensor subsystems, including concept development, technology trade studies, requirements derivation, algorithm development, performance analysis, data analysis, and hardware prototype build and test. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM with 8 years of experience, or a Master's with 6 years, or a PhD with 4 years. Experience with sensor development, IR payloads, fiber optics, EO/IR and laser technology, and system modeling is required. An active Secret clearance is mandatory, with the ability to obtain SAP clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support design development and integration of EOIR sensor subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
  2. Development, analysis, maturation and implementation translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  3. Willingness to learn new and existing high fidelity, physics-based EOIR system performance models and optical modeling
  4. Modeling/Developing / analyzing sensor performance, predicting performance as installed on an airborne platform
  5. Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results
