This role is for a Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer at Northrop Grumman, focusing on computer hardware design and integration for systems involving diverse electrical signals. What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate on the design and integration of hardware systems ensuring adherence to changing requirements and specifications.
  2. Create/Review/Update drawings, support equipment moves, rack and stack of equipment and integration of computer equipment into a shelter for deployment.
  3. Participate in system-level testing and verification processes, ensuring hardware meets all specified requirements and standards.
  4. Conduct troubleshooting and modifications on existing hardware designs to enhance performance and reliability.
  5. Utilize clear technical writing to document design alterations, prepare status reports, and develop design specifications and validation plans.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree in a STEM field with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR PhD in a STEM field with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Experience with hardware design and integration processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of requirement changes on hardware design
  • Familiarity with power, RF, and fiber electrical signal principles and applications

Nice to have

  • Experience/interest in power/cooling or site construction
  • Traveling to support installation and configuration events
  • Experience with complex system architectures and hardware validation procedures
  • Knowledge of electronic components and their applications in communication systems
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced engineering environment with a focus on field support operations
  • Applied electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing.
  • Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with agile programs
