Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr Principal Engineer Manufacturing to lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Continual Improvement (CI) efforts for sonar and undersea systems. The role involves guiding engineering on design concepts, reviewing drawings for manufacturability, developing manufacturing plans, monitoring shop floor performance, and supporting repair/refurbishment. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM, 8+ years of experience, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Experience with GD&T, CAD, and tool/fixture design is essential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  2. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  3. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  4. Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  5. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related STEM degree
  • minimum of 8 years of Manufacturing/Engineering experience

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Experience reviewing mechanical design drawings
  • solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
