This role is for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman, focusing on supporting strategic operating units, executing sustainment and modernization programs, and contributing to software design, development, testing, and integration. The role involves leadership in establishing a large-scale software factory and implementing DevSecOps practices, including continuous build, integration, test, cyber, and deployment pipelines. It requires experience with object-oriented programming, software development lifecycles, change management, and configuration management systems, as well as an active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Leadership and standup of large-scale software factory used by software teams
  2. Implement and maintain DevSecOps lifecycle - continuous build, continuous integration, continuous test, continuous cyber, and continuous deployment pipeline
  3. Contribute to software engineering initiatives for several programs with software design & development, software test and integration, and DevOps expertise
  4. Support all phases of the development life cycle for flight, mission, lab and tools software
  5. Use a variety of software languages, technologies, and industry best practices.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of experience in software engineering OR a PhD degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4-years of experience
  • Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (Java, JavaScript, C++, C#, Python, Swift) and software development lifecycle
  • Experience with one of the following change management tracking system tools: Jira, ClearQuest, Asana
  • Experience with one of the following configuration management systems: GIT, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, Subversion
  • Active DoD Secret level clearance OR Top Secret (in-scope)

Nice to have

  • Experience with cloud technology (AWS, VMWare, Azure, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with developing software using agile processes (Kanban, Scrum, Scrumban)
  • Knowledge of software metrics
  • Experience with configuration of virtual machines (VMs) and virtual networks (VPC, NSX-T, NSX-V)
  • Experience with static, dynamic code analysis
  • Experience with operation of cyber remediation and Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Certification from VMWare, AWS, or Cisco is desired
  • Active Secret DoD Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
  • Current Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
