This role is for a Sr. Principal Hydraulic Test Engineer focused on hydraulic pumps for NASA's Space Launch System. Responsibilities include refurbishment, assembly, testing, preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of aerospace hydraulic pumps and associated test equipment. The role requires a STEM degree with significant experience in hydraulic test systems and pump experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. This position will be responsible for performing hydraulic pump testing and troubleshooting when necessary.
  2. Generate/update electronic planning for both hardware testing and production support equipment maintenance.
  3. Monitor and analyze hydraulic test data to ensure hydraulic characteristics fall within established specifications. Maintain meticulous records of testing results.
  4. Disposition non-conforming material/components through Material Review Board (MRB) process.
  5. Complete refurbishment, assembly, and dynamic/static acceptance testing of aerospace hydraulic pumps.

Skills

Required

  • STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience – OR – STEM PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Significant hydraulic test system experience with ability to identify root causes of failures in test benches.
  • Strong communication skills in terms of presentations and writing detailed technical reports.
  • Must have hydraulic pump experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to work overtime/weekends and/or second shift work schedule.
