Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Mission Planning Engineer in Melbourne, FL to join an interdisciplinary team. The role involves developing novel solutions for a mission planning subsystem, including functional architectures, performance analysis, requirements management, and verification/validation. Responsibilities include supporting subsystem development and integration, translating customer requirements into specifications, performing risk analysis, collaborating with stakeholders, managing supplier documentation, and leading technical discussions with customers and management. Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience (or Master's with 6, or PhD with 4), experience with system modeling and requirements management tools, software development familiarity, supplier management experience, and the ability to maintain a Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support development and integration of mission planning subsystems and components to meet program objectives
  2. Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation, translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  3. Perform performance and functional analyses
  4. Performing risk analysis and developing mitigation plans and tracking to closure
  5. Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 8 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university AND 6 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering
  • Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (Cameo, DOORS, etc.), developing/maturing requirements, and tracing requirements through various levels
  • Familiar with Software Development/Management and Software Factories.
  • Experience in supplier/subcontract management
  • Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
  • Ability to review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design review
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret clearance (DoD must be in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.

  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
