Sr Principal Network Engineer - Secret

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer with a Secret clearance to support classified and unclassified networks. Responsibilities include designing, operating, and managing networks, deploying network management tools, collaborating on network integration solutions, planning security patches, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and documenting designs. Requires experience with network design, IPv4/IPv6, and network device configuration. Experience with Splunk, Cisco SDWAN, Ansible, and RMF is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Use Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter
  2. Design, operate and manage companion, RMF compliant classified and unclassified networks in both lab and field environments.
  3. Deploy, utilize, and maintain network management tools.
  4. Maintain smooth operation of network and network management equipment during network expansion.
  5. Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to design network integration solutions to achieve mission objectives on a wide range data flow scenarios and use cases.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of relevant experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 10 years of relevant experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 12 years of relevant experience
  • current US Government Secret with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Top Secret Clearance
  • ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs
  • Security+ certification or greater
  • Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection
  • Understanding and implementation of IPv4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
  • Understanding and implementation of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/Fire Power/PANOS)

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree Network Engineering
  • Active Top Secret, SCI, SAP/SAR access, or Polygraph
  • Professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNP Service Provider/CCIE or equivalent.
  • Familiar with network management applications, like Splunk, Cisco ISE, Cisco SDWAN, Palo Alto Panorama, SolarWinds, and Netbox.
  • Understanding of cloud and automation tools such as (NSXT, SDWAN, SDA, Ansible)
  • Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.
  • Familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
  • Experience with complex multi-mesh hybrid HAIPE topologies managed via orchestration tools such as GemOne.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications / VoIP and VTC
