Seeking an experienced Environmental Professional to join the Japan Environmental Assurance Program (EAP) team as a Sr. Regional Environmental Manager. This role will oversee in-the-field environmental compliance for Amazon Japan's Last Mile delivery operations, partnering with operations, facilities, and engineering teams to ensure adherence to environmental standards and Japanese regulations. Responsibilities include defining environmental policy, leading program rollouts, assisting with audits, and supporting change initiatives to minimize environmental impacts and promote best practices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Maintain thorough understanding of local, prefecture, and national environmental regulations and Amazon standards.
  2. Create and implement country-level procedures, lead environmental program rollout, develop internal audit protocols, support change management, and establish regulatory tasks in the company environmental management system.
  3. Partner with operations, facilities, engineering, and regional/site EAP teams to execute Amazon environmental standards and Japanese regulatory procedures.
  4. Conduct standards reviews, risk assessments, and compliance evaluations.
  5. Conduct thorough environmental incident investigations and regulatory reports.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of program or project Management experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
  • Experience in conducting workplace risk investigations
  • Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
  • 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Bachelor's Degree in the Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field
  • Fluent in English and Japanese (verbally and written)

Nice to have

  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
  • Professional Engineer or equivalent certification
  • Master's degree in the Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field of study
