Sr. Scientist, Preclinical Development - Biologics Product Development

Merck Merck · Pharma · NJ

This role focuses on developing sterile drug products for biologics, involving formulation, composition, packaging, and process selection. It leverages smart experimental design, analytical tools, and predictive approaches to inform molecule and process selection, aiming to translate preclinical candidates into non-oral drug products. The role requires a Master's or Ph.D. in a related scientific field and experience in areas like protein stability, formulation screening, and process development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Designing and developing sterile products for biologics (monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, antibody-drug conjugates) drugs for injectable and ophthalmic routes of administration.
  2. Support product development of both early and late -stage assets while developing mechanistic understanding of the degradation and process design space.
  3. Key studies include screening and developing robust drug product composition, developing scalable process and defining primary packaging.
  4. Build deep fundamental knowledge around the drug product and document experimental findings and conclusions in formulation development reports and regulatory filings.
  5. Active participation and leadership on formulation development teams and interfacing and collaborating with key stakeholders to drive project milestones
