This role is for a Sr. Fullstack Software Engineer on the Security Privacy team at Pinterest. The primary focus is on architecting and implementing solutions to protect user privacy and ensure compliance with privacy regulations across backend and client platforms, including mobile applications. While the role involves leveraging AI tools for development tasks and shaping AI-assisted engineering practices, its core function is not building AI models or systems, but rather ensuring the security and privacy of the platform and its users. The role requires strong software engineering skills, expertise in privacy regulations, and the ability to mentor others.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design and implement scalable solutions that ensure privacy compliance and protect sensitive user data, including data handling and deletion processes.
  2. Write, review, and maintain code that is well-documented, thoroughly tested, and compliant with security and privacy standards.
  3. Monitor, identify, and address potential privacy vulnerabilities, leading root cause analysis and applying lessons learned to strengthen systems.
  4. Work closely with compliance teams, engineers, and stakeholders to align on goals, define success metrics, and implement best practices for security and privacy.
  5. Implement privacy and security frameworks to Pinterest’s mobile surfaces.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in privacy and security engineering
  • Proficiency in a dynamic programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Kotlin, or Swift)
  • 2+ years of Fullstack experience
  • Experience tackling technical challenges
  • Familiarity with privacy frameworks
  • Experience with secure data handling, logging, monitoring, and incident response
  • Collaborative mindset and leadership skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
