Sr Solution Engineer

Microsoft Microsoft · Big Tech · United States · Solution Engineering

Senior Solution Engineer for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, focusing on demonstrating how agentic AI, low-code, and RPA extend the ERP. The role involves customer envisioning, solution demos, POCs, and translating business problems into "art of the possible" stories for Japan-headquartered multinationals. Responsibilities include technical wins, account planning, competitive positioning, and executive briefings in Japanese and English. The role also leverages the broader Microsoft portfolio including Fabric and Copilot, and influences customer architecture choices.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the technical win for D365 F&O opportunities across Japan Global Accounts — from first executive briefing to signed deal.
  2. Lead customer envisioning sessions, solution demos, POCs, and Proof-of-Value engagements; translate business problems into compelling "art of the possible" stories.
  3. Partner with account executives on account planning, qualification, RFP/RFI responses, pricing strategy, and competitive positioning against SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion, Workday, and regional ERPs.
  4. Deliver executive briefings to CFOs, COOs, CIOs at Japan HQ and overseas entity leadership — in Japanese and English.
  5. Handoff qualified, technically-validated opportunities to SI partners for implementation; you do not lead the delivery.

Skills

Required

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR 5+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate how AI agents reimagine finance and supply chain including but not limited to AP/AR automation, intelligent bank reconciliation, GL anomaly detection, predictive inventory, autonomous procurement, supplier risk monitoring.
  • Articulate global ERP value for Japanese multinationals — multi-entity, multi-currency, multi-language, localization, global consolidation, intercompany — at the vision and capability level.
  • Leverage Microsoft portfolio such as D365 F&O + Fabric + Copilot story as one integrated platform.
  • Demo Power Apps as the natural extension of D365 F&O for tailored user experiences and mobile frontline scenarios.
  • Demo Power Automate Desktop (PAD) as the bridge between D365 F&O and legacy/local systems used in overseas entities — positioning RPA as a migration and coexistence accelerator.
  • Demo Copilot Studio agents that sit on top of D365 F&O to transform user productivity — conversational finance assistants, supplier onboarding agents, multi-agent orchestration.
  • Communicate Power Platform governance and licensing at the architectural level (not hands-on ALM delivery).
  • Stay ahead of the D365 F&O roadmap, competitive landscape, and agentic AI trends in ERP.
  • Partner closely with SI partners and ISVs — enable their pre-sales teams, co-present at customer meetings, and drive joint pipeline.
  • Provide structured feedback to Microsoft product groups from customer engagements.
  • Represent Microsoft at industry events, executive roundtables, and customer advisory boards.
  • 6 years in ERP pre-sales, technical sales, or solution engineering (not primarily implementation consulting).
  • Demo and storytelling skills — able to run a crisp 30-minute executive demo and a 3-hour technical deep dive with equal effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with generative AI and agentic patterns — grounding, tool use, multi-agent orchestration — and how they apply to ERP.
  • Finance and supply chain business processes (record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, plan-to-produce) at the executive conversation level experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting Japanese multinationals on overseas / global initiatives — able to navigate Japan HQ decision-making and overseas entity dynamics.
  • Background in competitive displacement (SAP / Oracle to Microsoft).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and the broader Azure AI Foundry story.
  • Exposure to US statutory, tax, and e-invoicing requirements — enough to address them confidently in customer conversations.
  • Technical wins on D365 F&O (or equivalent tier-1 ERP pre-sales on SAP S/4HANA / Oracle Fusion with willingness to pivot to Microsoft).
  • Working knowledge of Power Platform (Power Apps, PAD, Copilot Studio) sufficient to demo and position — not necessarily to build production solutions.
