Sr. Sourcing Engineer

This role is for a Sr. Sourcing Engineer within Microsoft's Cloud Supply Chain organization, focusing on developing and executing sourcing strategies for Tier 3 commodities. The role involves managing supply chain operations, mitigating risks, onboarding suppliers, and planning for product transitions. While the organization supports AI infrastructure growth, the core responsibilities of this specific role are in traditional supply chain management and sourcing, not direct AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Support development and execution of sourcing and supply plan for Tier 3 commodities spanning a multi-year strategy.
  2. Develop, refine and execute sourcing strategy for Tier 3 components.
  3. Mitigate continuity of supply risk and develop key escalation channels across supply base.
  4. Develop supplier capabilities on planning and supply chain operations delivery.
  5. On board new suppliers and new commodities into Microsoft managed systems (including Hubs) to ensure they meet established requirements and expectation.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 7+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, Sales & Operations Planning, materials requirement planning systems and tools, quantitative & qualitative analysis in cross functional or organizational enterprise environment, or related experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field AND 5+ years supply planning, operations, supply chain, indirect supply planning, technology-related supply chain, sourcing and manufacturing, Sales & Operations Planning, materials requirement planning systems and tools, quantitative & qualitative analysis in cross functional or organizational enterprise environment, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
