Sr. Staff Engineer, Perception Mapping

This role focuses on developing and scaling perception systems for mapping in autonomous vehicles (consumer and robotaxi). It involves designing, building, evaluating, and deploying core perception components using ML, Computer Vision, and SLAM, with a strong emphasis on robust integration and large-scale data distribution. The role also requires understanding various map representations and full-stack perception systems, with potential for team management.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborate with the broader autonomy organization to develop and refine the mapping strategy for consumer and robotaxi platforms.
  2. Design, build, evaluate, deploy, and maintain the core perception components critical to the mapping infrastructure.
  3. Ensure robust integration and deterministic performance of mapping software within real-time, safety-critical systems.
  4. Recruit, mentor, and manage individual contributors to support the team's expanding scope (optional based on candidate experience).

Required

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
