Sr. Systems Design Engineer

AMD AMD · Semiconductors · Folsom, CA · Engineering

AMD is hiring a Sr. Systems Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and test electronic components and systems for semiconductor manufacturing. This role involves defining technical platforms, conceiving system interfaces, devising validation strategies, and driving debug across silicon, firmware/BIOS, and memory partners. The engineer will influence future product architecture and evaluate the entire process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing/power usage. The position requires experience in C/C++/Perl/Ruby/Python, GPU/CPU/SOC architecture, logic and circuit design, RTL design, SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL, ASIC design, submicron ASIC design flow, and ASIC design tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory.
  2. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product.
  3. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility.
  4. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes.
  5. Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses.
