This role is for a Sr. Technical Program Manager within Databricks' Professional Services team, focusing on the Digital Native Business (DNB) customer base. The primary responsibility is to ensure the successful delivery of complex customer engagements by providing technical leadership and guidance to implementation teams. While not a hands-on coding role, it requires strong technical acumen to guide architectural decisions, manage risks, and deliver high-quality project outcomes. The role involves managing scope, schedule, budget, and resources, acting as a primary escalation point for technical delivery issues, and building trust with technical teams and stakeholders.

What you'd actually do

  1. Be responsible for the successful delivery of our most complex customer engagements by providing technical leadership and guidance to the implementation team.
  2. Guide technical teams through key architectural decisions, helping them navigate trade-offs between established and innovative approaches.
  3. Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies that could impact project timelines and goals.
  4. Individually deliver on commitments by producing high-quality deliverables, status reports, program plans, and customer responses that require minimal rework.
  5. Effectively manage all aspects of a program, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, and resources, with a focus on technical complexity.

Skills

Required

  • Proven ability to stay current on technology trends and make sound technical decisions without being a hands-on coder.
  • Experience managing large, complex engagements and mitigating unexpected technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with managing the trade-offs between scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • A track record of influencing technical teams and effectively tailoring messages for different audiences, from engineers to executives.

Nice to have

  • Experience with BI, data management, and big data technologies is preferred.
  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple engagements while delivering a high level of customer satisfaction.
