This role is for a Sr. UI/UX Designer at Carbon Robotics, a company that uses AI/ML in its LaserWeeder product. The designer will conduct user research, lead UI/UX design, and collaborate with engineering teams. They will also travel to the field to understand user needs. Experience in agriculture, robotics, or physical products is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Conduct user research, field studies, and usability testing with growers and field operators to identify needs and pain points, integrating findings into improving our design.
  2. Lead the design of both UX and UI components, delivering seamless and visually appealing interfaces across Carbon Robotics' products.
  3. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other team members to create and iterate on user-centered designs.
  4. Assess and make recommendations for design software and tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar) to create prototypes and final designs.
  5. Travel to the field and understand user needs directly by observing and interacting with end users in their actual work environment. Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time is a must.

Skills

Required

  • 6+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer
  • Strong proficiency using design software (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar) to create interactive software applications with a focus on clean user-centered design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI software design skills showing your process from user research to final designs.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in agriculture or other field-based industries
  • Previous design experience in robotics, IoT, or any physical products that involve field conditions, durability, and real-world functionality.
