This role focuses on ensuring smooth product launches at supplier sites by collaborating with program teams, resolving quality issues, and overseeing manufacturing processes. It involves significant on-site supplier evaluation and problem-solving to mitigate production risks and drive continuous improvement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive Flawless Launches on time at assigned supplier sites, collaborating with Program STA and PD teams (Ex: Schedule A, PPAP-Production Part Approval Process, Design & Manufacturing Feasibility, Supplier Quality Issue resolution, etc).
  2. Conduct onsite evaluation visits for Priority commodities as per GPDS supplier engagement process for new programs
  3. Drive Supplier Process capacity issues resolution as needed – Production constraint risk mitigation supporting Ford Supply Operations Team and Supplier teams with robust “date to green” plan
  4. Drive robust Supplier Failure Mode Avoidance through PFMEA, SCCAF, CP, Reverse FMEA process evaluation walks, Manufacturing feasibility reviews and Health chart deployment as applicable
  5. Drive deployment of Quality performance requirements (Q1, QR, TGW, R/1000, CPU), initiatives and training to supply base in STA tools (e.g. Warranty Reduction, Benchmarking, Lean Manufacturing, G8D-Global 8 Discipline methodology, PFMEA-Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, SPC-Statistical Process Control, Gage R&R-Repeatability and Reproducibility, etc.) as required

Skills

Required

  • BS in engineering
  • Knowledge of or prior experience with supplier manufacturing
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of problem solving and quality skills
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills

Nice to have

  • MS in engineering
  • 5-10 years of manufacturing experience in OEM or with the automotive supply base (Exhaust Manufacturing, Thermal Systems, etc.)
  • Prior experience leading manufacturing feasibility assessments
  • Prior experience leading industrialization projects
  • Prior experience in the Lean manufacturing disciplines (e.g. Bill of Process, capacity planning, design to target, etc.)
  • Demonstrated passion for developing new skills and tackling technical challenges
  • Proficiency with Welding / Exhaust Manufacturing and / or Thermal Systems (HVAC / Cooling Modules and Components) is a plus.

  • Required travel to Suppliers is key in this role with up to 80% of time spent on-site reviewing manufacturing processes / launch readiness / problem solving etc.
