Staff Chief Engineer

This role is for a Staff Chief Engineer at Northrop Grumman, focused on managing a team of engineers responsible for Support Test Equipment (STE) and Simulator design, assembly, integration & test. The responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, proposal development, budget and schedule management (EVMS), staffing, and interfacing with suppliers and customers. The role requires a strong STEM background, leadership experience in project management aspects, and an active Top Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases
  2. Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
  3. Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
  4. Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
  5. Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of experience, or 10 years with a Master's Degree and 7 years of experience with a Ph.D.
  • STEM degree
  • Leadership experience in project planning, cost and schedule management and tracking, technology management, risk management, performance reporting, proposals, manufacturing support, vendor selection and management, hardware specification, and program staffing
  • Experience in RF, Electrical, Digital, Power, Mechanical Designs or Embedded Processing
  • Active TOP SECRET clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship

Nice to have

  • Experience as technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, or other leadership role
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects
  • Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams
  • Fluency with developing and executing project schedules
  • Basic understanding of the Design, Manufacturing, and Test process
  • Problem-solving experience in a team environment
  • PMP certification
  • Active TS/SCI with counterintelligence polygraph
