Staff Cyber Defense Engineer

Gong is seeking a Staff Cyber Defense Engineer to shape the strategy, architecture, and execution model of their Cyber Defense organization. This role involves working across various security teams to ensure defensive capabilities operate as a coherent system, identifying control gaps, leading multi-team initiatives, and translating technical work into business risk and measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate has deep technical judgment, systems thinking, and cross-functional influence.

What you'd actually do

  1. The end-to-end defensive architecture across Gong’s Cyber Defense organization.
  2. Cross-team architecture decisions that span identity, endpoint, SaaS, telemetry, response readiness, validation, and risk reduction.
  3. Identification of control gaps, overlaps, weak handoffs, and systemic friction across teams.
  4. Multi-team security initiatives that require sustained coordination, sequencing, and executive visibility.
  5. Group-level prioritization support, including helping leadership evaluate what should be done first, next, or not at all.
