Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Systems Security Engineer to support programs, identify cybersecurity risks, and design, develop, integrate, test, and verify system security solutions. The role involves managing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and developing associated documentation to achieve and maintain Authority to Operate (ATO). Responsibilities include authoring cybersecurity program documentation, supporting architecture and design of security protections, implementing cybersecurity in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), and providing guidance to technical teams. The position requires a Secret clearance and experience with government security frameworks like NIST SP 800-37.

What you'd actually do

  1. Author, and maintain cybersecurity program documentation & RMF package artifacts: Cybersecurity Strategies, System Security Plans, Continuous Monitoring Plans, Risk Assessment Report, Security Control Traceability Matrix, Plan Of Actions & Milestones, etc
  2. Support the architecture and design of cybersecurity requirements and protections
  3. Implement and review traceability of requirements to the design & its models
  4. Experience implementing cybersecurity artifacts in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Architecture
  5. Provide cybersecurity system engineering implementation guidance and oversight to technical teams

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 12 years of experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 10 years of experience, or a PhD Degree with 7 years of experience.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience working on weapon systems
  • Prior experience working in restricted facilities
  • Current/active Top-Secret clearance
  • Active DoD Cyber Workforce Framework certification or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Direct experience developing RMF assessment and authorization artifacts in accordance with NIST SP 800-37
  • Prior experience working in a Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Architecture
  • Experience linking requirements to design elements, traceability matrices, and change impact analysis
  • Experience modeling and analyzing cybersecurity threats using the MITRE ATT&CK framework
  • Experience with government security frameworks to include NIST-800-37 and NIST 800-171
  • Experience with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
