Staff Data Engineer for John Deere Financial to build a data platform for advanced analytics and model building, enabling efficient customer services like automatic loan approvals. Responsibilities include leading design reviews, providing technical guidance, improving data quality, implementing best practices for software development and CI/CD, collaborating with architecture teams, and working within an Agile framework. Requires experience in data pipelines, ETL, Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, large-scale datasets, API Development (Java, Spring boot), technical leadership, solution architecture, TDD, and extensive knowledge of Data Engineering tools (Spark, Databricks, Python, SQL/NoSQL DB, Data Lake) and AWS services. Working knowledge of Gen AI, Agentic pattern, and Graph databases is also required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead design review activities to verify and demonstrate high-quality output for the JDF Data Engineering products;
  2. Provide technical guidance and coaching to team members;
  3. Collaborate with engineers to improve data quality and help in developing efficient systems;
  4. Lead efforts to implement best practices for software development, test automation, CI/CD and support business needs;
  5. Collaborate with architecture team to develop coding standard, data pipeline standards etc;

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Advanced English
  • Experience in designing and building data pipelines
  • Experience with ETL, Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, and working with large-scale datasets
  • API Development experience (specifically Rest APIs using Java, Spring boot)
  • Experience in providing technical leadership in teams
  • Experience in solution architecture and designing of systems, applications
  • Experience in Test-driven development
  • Extensive working knowledge of Data Engineering and the respective tools and technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Databricks, Python, SQL DB, NoSQL DB, Data Lake concepts)
  • Extensive working Knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, RDS, ECS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3 etc
  • Working Knowledge of Gen AI, Agentic pattern
  • Working knowledge of Graph databases

Nice to have

  • AWS certification or working experience in AWS cloud or other cloud technologies
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications and ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working in an agile team environment
