Quora is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to work on their Quora product. The role involves owning ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to shape product strategy, designing and evaluating experiments, analyzing data to uncover root causes of metric movements, and developing tools and methodologies to improve data team efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in analytical roles, expertise in statistical techniques, experience mentoring data scientists, strong communication skills, and proficiency in a procedural programming language like Python or R. Experience with recommender systems and distributed computing tools is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own ambiguous, high-impact problem spaces across product and business domains, from question framing, to devising and conducting the analysis, to developing and implementing solutions with cross-functional partners
  2. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders and company leadership to shape product strategy and anticipate future challenges
  3. Design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of product and strategic changes
  4. Analyze data from across the product to uncover root causes of metric movements
  5. Develop tools, methodologies, and frameworks that help make both the data team and the company as a whole smarter about data
