Staff Electrical Systems Engineer

Rivian Rivian · Auto · Palo Alto, CA +1 · Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

Staff Electrical Systems Engineer responsible for the definition, analysis, and development of Rivian's next-generation electrical system platform, from early-stage development through manufacturing validation. This role involves defining requirements, ensuring traceability, integrating subsystems, performing FMEA, and ensuring safety-critical design compliance.

What you'd actually do

  1. Interface with product management teams to define customer user stories and derive high-level system requirements
  2. Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to incorporate high-rate process requirements into the system design
  3. Own and maintain essential technical documentation, including schematics, manuals, specifications, and test reports
  4. Decompose the electrical system design into subsystem requirements. Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate the subsystems together with the electrical system.
  5. Perform and document Failure Mode and Effects Analyses and incorporate mitigations into the electrical system design
