Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing Engineer to join their team in Melbourne, FL. The role involves defining, designing, integrating, testing, and certifying hardware and software requirements for mission processing systems. Responsibilities include interpreting and flowing down requirements, designing computer and network architectures, performing hardware integration and testing, and collaborating with Integrated Product Teams. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM with significant experience, experience with model-based systems engineering, and supplier management. A Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.

What you'd actually do

  1. interpret, allocate, tailor, write and flow down requirements to all levels of a system architecture
  2. Design and develop computer, network and system models and architectures
  3. perform hardware integration and testing, and requirements analysis
  4. collaborate with Integrated Product Teams and conduct Trade studies, documenting subsystem architectures, analyzing performance, and evaluating Technology Readiness Level (TRL) regarding supplier current and future products offerings
  5. Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams and specifications

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 12 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university AND 10 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering; or a Ph.D. (STEM) AND 9 years of related professional/military experience in Engineering
  • Experience developing model-based systems engineering products and/or Mission Engineering in Cameo or similar tools
  • Experience in supplier/subcontract management
  • Experience with developing supplier documentation, performance-based specifications, and statements of work
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and experience in conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
  • Ability to review documents from the supplier’s development effort and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design review
  • Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with network, commercial cloud, platform infrastructures and containerized software architecture
  • Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes and environments
  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment
