Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Engineer Systems to design and define system architectures for complex computer systems, ensuring hardware/software compatibility and system security. The role involves coordinating subsystem design, resolving deficiencies, planning COTS hardware/software installation, and maintaining expertise in network and computer hardware/software interconnection. Responsibilities include leading enterprise system operations, representing System Engineer in IPTs, managing capacity/performance, and mentoring engineers. Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience, an active Top Secret clearance, and the ability to obtain IAT Level II certification and SAP access.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define system specifications, input/output processes, and operating parameters to ensure hardware/software compatibility and maintain system security.
  2. Coordinate subsystem design and total system integration; identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies.
  3. Lead enterprise Windows/Linux system operations and lifecycle; plan and execute maintenance windows, outages, and DR/COOP exercises.
  4. Manage capacity/performance and technology roadmaps; forecast resource needs, plan upgrades, and coordinate vendors and support contracts.
  5. Able to supervise and mentor engineers; prioritize backlog, assign work, develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)/runbooks, and enforce change and access controls.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an IAT Level II Security Certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR).

Nice to have

  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT DoD Level III (e.g., CASP, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA/Confluence)
  • Willingness to work outside normal scheduled hours, including after-hours support and extended workdays.
  • Valid driver's license.
