Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Reliability Systems Engineer to support the E-2D Hawkeye Program, focusing on aircraft sustainment and cost improvement solutions. The role involves advanced reliability engineering analysis, including RMA, FMEA/FMECA, fault tree analysis, and Weibull life data analysis, applying military and defense standards. The engineer will interface with various departments and the US Navy customer, requiring strong communication skills and proficiency in reliability software tools.

What you'd actually do

  1. Candidate will be responsible for the project requirements associated with the establishment of hardware reliability design criteria, the performance and overview of systems and failure analysis tasks including: performing reliability analyses, participating in program reviews, reliability and availability modeling, probability, and statistics, reliability and availability allocations, and predictions.
  2. Perform Logistics Analysis, Logistics associated with Support Cost, Mission Capability and Accomplishment Analysis, Operational and Deployment Analysis, and Testability Analysis.
  3. Oversight and guidance through the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action Analysis program, including the performance of Failure Data Collection, Failure Data/Database Management, Failure Data Report Generation, and Data Analysis tasks.
  4. Candidate will have subject matter expert knowledge on Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis.
  5. Candidate will interface with other functional departments, including Air Vehicle, Avionics, Systems Engineering, Modeling & Simulation, Prognostics Health Management, Supportability Engineering, Diminishing Material Shortages (DMS) team, Support Hardware, Global Supply Chain and supplier design engineers, as well as interfacing with the US Navy customer to understand requirements, collect data and strategize/provide solutions.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 12 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least 10 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 8 years of relevant military / professional experience
  • Experience in Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) engineering in aerospace or defense.
  • Perform Logistics Analysis, Logistics associated with Support Cost, Mission Capability and Accomplishment Analysis, Operational and Deployment Analysis, and Testability Analysis.
  • Proven proficiency with reliability software tools such as PTC Windchill Quality Solutions (Relex), ReliaSoft (Weibull++, BlockSim), or Ansys Sherlock.
  • Experience applying military and defense standards (e.g., MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1629, or DO-178/DO-254).
  • Demonstrated expertise leading FMEA/FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Weibull life data analysis, and Physics of Failure (PoF) assessments.
  • Familiarity with other Product Support disciplines
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Tools

  • Prior Military experience is a plus.
