Staff Experience Designer, Design Systems

This role is for a Staff Experience Designer focused on design systems at PayPal (Venmo). The designer will collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to maintain and evolve the design system. A key aspect of the role involves leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance design workflows, including generative design, automated token management, component scaffolding, and AI-assisted documentation, to improve speed, consistency, and scalability. The role requires significant experience in design systems and proficiency in design tools, with a focus on user-centered design principles and accessibility.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop plans to enhance the user and customer experience across the digital and physical products and meet team performance
  2. Perform more-complex customer experiences that require highly specialized user interface and product design knowledge and advanced business expertise
  3. Lead some projects or programs within the product function and may coordinate activities of others
  4. Design process, product, and service improvements based on understanding of business needs and industry trends
  5. Determine methods and procedures on new assignments that may impact activities of others

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minium 5-8 years in a digital design role
  • at least 1-2 years solely focused on design systems work
  • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles, interaction design, visual design, and accessibility standards
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in design system documentation tools

  • Experience using AI tools to aid with design system use cases/prob
