Staff Fpga Engineer

Johnson & Johnson Johnson & Johnson · Pharma · Santa Clara, CA +1

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Staff FPGA Engineer to design and implement FPGA solutions for their robotic surgical platform. The role involves collecting requirements, guiding architecture, designing and verifying FPGA logic for vision, robotic control, and instrument interfaces. The engineer will collaborate with multi-functional teams, document designs, and mentor junior engineers, with a focus on deterministic timing, parallel algorithms, and custom vision/robotic control features.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, develop and maintain high-quality FPGA solutions for vision, robotic control, instruments, and surgical applications.
  2. Collect requirements from different sources, decomposite and guide FPGA architectures and design decision. Own designs end to end to meet customer needs, performance targets, and regulatory expectations.
  3. Develop test benches, test plans, and test cases to verify FPGA designs meet the design requirements.
  4. Collaborate across teams to support integration, testing, and delivery while building strong partnerships and contributing effectively in an iterative hardware‑software development cycle.
  5. Document designs, specifications, and requirements according to design control processes. Lead design review, demonstrate requirement traceability.
