Staff Full Stack Engineer, Federated Auth

Okta is looking for a Staff Full Stack Engineer to join their Federated Authentication Platform team. This role will focus on building and supporting the authentication pipeline for the Okta Identity Engine, leveraging security standards to create a world-class authentication experience. The position involves designing and implementing scalable backend services and APIs, developing user interfaces, and collaborating with product management and other engineering teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, implement, review and troubleshoot highly scalable backend services and APIs.
  2. Develop and maintain engaging and responsive user interfaces using modern web frameworks.
  3. Analyze/Refine Requirements with Product Management, bridging the gap between user needs and technical implementation.
  4. Work with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts across the full stack.
  5. Collaborate with QA, Product Management, Technical Support, Documentation and UX team

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of experience building and deploying scalable, reliable, mission-critical software, spanning both frontend and backend development.
  • Proficiency with at least one Object-Oriented Backend Language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Go) and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience with a modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and interaction.
  • Experience working with a system of scale

Nice to have

  • Experience with server-side technologies including caching, asynchronous processing, and multi-threading.
  • Experience in TDD or BDD methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management protocols and technologies: OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, Federation, SSO, etc.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
