This role focuses on designing and building hardware systems for Google's data centers, with a specific emphasis on AI/ML hardware platforms like GPUs and TPUs. The engineer will be involved from concept to manufacturing, leading system and hardware design, validation, and productization.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead a system and hardware design on data center hardware products.
  2. Bring up systems and execute engineering validation in the lab.
  3. Gather requirements, define architecture, execute hardware design and product validation.
  4. Work with engineering, manufacturing, product, and deployment teams to productize designs and field support.
  5. Drive product from concept to production.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of experience working in a hardware system development environment
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership
  • Experience with Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hardware platforms, including Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) and Tensor Processing Units (TPUs)

Nice to have

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience working in a hardware system development environment
  • Experience with data center engineering, AI/ML, server, storage and networking products
  • Experience in solving system issues, technical innovation and drive technical roadmap
  • Ability to collect and organize details to reproduce results and explain findings
