Staff Hardware System Validation Engineer

Aurora Innovation Aurora Innovation · Robotics · Mountain View, CA · Hardware

This role focuses on the end-to-end validation of autonomous hardware systems and components, including PCBA, modules, and integrated systems. Responsibilities include defining and executing test methodologies, collaborating with cross-functional partners, performing requirements analysis, driving design validation decisions, and supporting sustaining engineering efforts for field issues. The role requires a deep understanding of V&V processes, testing methodologies, and RCCA for hardware systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. Define, develop and execute Test methodologies for verification and validation of autonomous hardware systems and components.
  2. Collaborate with and influence key cross-functional partners, including Hardware Systems, Safety, Test organizations, Firmware and Electrical Engineering.
  3. Perform requirements analysis, architecture studies and system characterization to derive clear performance metrics.
  4. Drive cross-functional reviews and achieve consensus on key design validation decisions.
  5. Drive sustaining engineering efforts, including root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for issues found in the field.
