Staff Machine Learning Engineer
Uber is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to develop and productionize ML models and systems, build scalable ML infrastructure, and collaborate with product and research teams. This role focuses on the inference and serving aspects of ML models within Uber's diverse product ecosystem.
What you'd actually do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable ML infrastructure and systems
- Develop and productionize ML models and algorithms for various Uber products
- Collaborate with product managers, researchers, and other engineers to define and deliver ML solutions
- Optimize ML model performance for latency, throughput, and cost
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth
Skills
Required
- Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java/Scala
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Strong understanding of ML model serving and inference optimization
- Experience with MLOps best practices
Nice to have
- Experience with large-scale data processing (e.g., Spark, Flink)
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation
