Staff Manufacturing Engineer at Northrop Grumman responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing manufacturing processes based on design requirements. This includes developing and maintaining work instructions, improving productivity, analyzing processing data, investigating manufacturing problems, implementing corrective actions, supporting proposal and development activities, and providing day-to-day support to manufacturing personnel. The role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process improvement, and data analysis within an industrial/defense context.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop Manufacturing Process, documentation, and equipment layout that ensures production hardware and test articles meet engineering and configuration requirements
  2. Establish Key Characteristics for manufacturing/processing and ensure systems are in place to monitor and control them Generate specifications for procurement of new equipment.
  3. Analyze processes and equipment for process capabilities, yield, scrap rate, and downtime.
  4. Identify process improvements, capture feedback from Operations Personnel and incorporate changes into the manufacturing process.
  5. Determine root cause and corrective actions for discrepancies.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelors degree or relevant experience in a technical field with minimum 12 years of experience or Masters degree in a technical field with minimum 10 years of relevant experience
  • Computer skills must include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge and experience with SPC techniques
  • Working knowledge of GD&T as defined by ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with external customers and all plant personnel
  • Comfortable making presentations in front of peers and senior leadership
  • Have an understanding and working knowledge of Lean/Agile Manufacturing
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a USG Secret Clearance
  • Federal Explosives License

Nice to have

  • Experience with Surface Mount Technology(SMT) for Circuit Card Assembly(CCA) population of electrical components
  • Experience in the manufacture of electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience using CAD/CAM software, AutoCAD, Mastercam, Solid Works or NX
