This role focuses on designing the user experience for conversational AI products, specifically GeminiApp within DeepMind. The designer will collaborate with PMs, engineers, and researchers to create end-to-end product experiences, guide prompt engineering, prototype, and assess model performance. The role emphasizes shaping AI from a passive responder to a proactive partner and ensuring cohesive, high-quality multimodal experiences.

What you'd actually do

  1. Apply deep understanding of model capabilities to guide prompt engineering and prototyping strategies, ensuring the delivery of consistently high-quality model outputs.
  2. Initiate qualitative assessments of model performance, applying mastery of the eval process to develop a strategy for continuous quality hillclimbing.
  3. Partner with AI product designers to craft leading-edge multimodal solutions, ensuring model responses and UI components work in concert to deliver cohesive, high quality experiences.
  4. Stay current on the latest design trends and technologies, in consumer technology, generative AI and natural language processing, and leverage this knowledge to innovate.
