What you'd actually do

  1. Maintains smooth operation of local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN).
  2. Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.
  3. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  4. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.
  5. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 16 years of experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree and 12 years of experience relevant Network Communications/Administration OR a Master’s Degree and 10 years of experience relevant Network Communications/Administration OR a PhD with 8 years of experience relevant Network Communications/Administration.
  • Security Plus (Sec+) Certification
  • Top Secret Clearance
