What you'd actually do

  1. design and plan network communication systems and provide specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
  2. troubleshoot and isolate network faults and failures in a LAN/WAN environment
  3. provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selections, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  4. maintain technical expertise in all areas of network and software interconnections and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers etc
  5. evaluate and report on new communication technologies to enhance capabilities of the network

Skills

Required

  • STEM degree with relevant experience
  • Active TS/SCI with adjudicated full-scope polygraph
  • Security+ certification
  • Travel minimum 20%
  • Maintain technical expertise in network and software interconnections (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers)
  • Wide Area Network Subject Matter Expert
  • Experience designing additions to a large network
