Staff Product Designer, Performance Reviews

Lattice Lattice · Enterprise · New York, NY +1 · Remote · Design

Lattice is seeking a Staff Product Designer to own the end-to-end user experience for their AI-native Performance Reviews product area. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, designing systems, and championing the design system. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in complex workflow design, strong systems thinking, and a builder mindset comfortable with prototyping and using modern AI tools to enhance the design process.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the end to end user experience for our Performance Reviews product area – a unique opportunity to revolutionize the performance review process for the AI era.
  2. Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Customer stakeholders to define, scope, and execute against solving customer and business needs.
  3. Design systems, not features –– understanding how the Performance Reviews product fits into the entire customer journey.
  4. Partner deeply with other product areas to ensure the customer experience is cohesive, not disjointed.
  5. Work closely with your engineering team throughout the design and development process, bringing your team along and then ensuring every detail of the design is implemented in a high-quality way.

Skills

Required

  • 7 to 10+ years designing complex workflows, in particular flows that move across or have impact on multiple products within a suite.
  • Expert-level understanding of visual and interaction design: including typography, hierarchy, spacing, grids, and responsive layouts.
  • Strong systems thinking: proven success working with an established design system, by reusing existing components, as well as driving the evolution of that system by building net new components and layouts.
  • Experience working across multiple teams to connect the dots, regularly considering the holistic user journey and how individual design decisions impact the cohesion of that journey.
  • Experience deeply understanding customers and their needs, working closely with User Research and Data to collect and evaluate both quantitative and qualitative inputs, and incorporate those into your work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for succinctly articulating customer challenges and design decisions.
  • A reliable and proactive partner for product and engineering: you think at a high-level about your team’s focus area and collaborate closely with your PM and Engineering partners to define the future of what your team owns.
  • A champion of feedback culture: regularly gives feedback that elevates other designers’ work, mentors teammates, and models transparency in sharing and iterating on design.
  • A builder mindset: you’re comfortable prototyping, working in coding tools, and using modern AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, coding agents) to accelerate how you work.
  • An interest in applying AI tooling to your design process to increase efficiency, effectiveness, and depth of thinking.

Nice to have

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, HR tech, performance management, or internal tooling
  • A background or formal education in Graphic or Product Design
  • HTML/CSS/JS experience
