Staff Product Manager, Cameras & Sensors

Skydio · Defense · San Mateo, CA +1 · R&D

Staff Product Manager for Cameras & Sensors at Skydio, a leading US drone company. This role focuses on defining the strategy and roadmap for the drone imaging stack, including camera modules, sensors, gimbals, and customer workflows. The position requires deep understanding of customer needs, technical expertise in hardware and software integration, and collaboration with engineering teams (hardware, optics, firmware, computer vision, AI). The goal is to deliver best-in-class imaging experiences for various customer segments like utilities, first responders, and national security.

What you'd actually do

  1. Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Skydio’s drone imaging stack, spanning camera modules, sensors, gimbals/stabilization, and customer workflows across photo and video.
  2. Deeply understand customer missions and workflows through field visits, ride-alongs, analytics, and hands-on testing, then translate those insights into clear product direction and priorities.
  3. Define product requirements that connect real-world outcomes to measurable imaging performance, such as resolution, low-light performance, dynamic range, motion/stabilization, latency, reliability, and environmental robustness.
  4. Partner with engineering leaders across hardware, optics, firmware, ISP/imaging pipelines, computer vision, and AI to make smart tradeoffs on architecture, performance, cost, size/weight/power, manufacturability, and schedule. You’ll need to be able to speak their language.
  5. Establish clear success metrics and use usage analytics, captured media quality, and direct customer feedback to drive continuous improvement and ultimately own the outcome.
