Staff Responsible Engineer for Fuel Systems at Northrop Grumman, focusing on aircraft fuel subsystems development, design, integration, testing, and verification. What you'd actually do

  1. Performing responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of fuel subsystem/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting.
  2. Performing system related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development of the fuel subsystem including integration with other aircraft subsystems.
  3. System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
  4. System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
  5. Attending internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 12 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s degree in STEM AND 10 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in STEM AND 7 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance, and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time
  • Professional experience related to the development and integration of fuel subsystems or components in commercial or military aircraft applications

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer disciplines
  • Experience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.
  • Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems
  • Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
  • Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM
  • Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516.
  • Familiarity with fuel systems aircraft installation per MIL-F-17874.
  • Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures
  • Experience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations
  • Demonstrated participation in mentoring activities.
