Rivian Rivian · Auto · Palo Alto, CA · Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

Rivian is seeking a Staff Sensor Design Engineer to own sensor system design, bring-up, and validation for their electric vehicles. The role involves hands-on design, characterization, debugging, and optimization of sensor systems, working cross-functionally to influence design and contribute to solving integration challenges. Responsibilities include leading development, evaluating signal processing techniques, supporting sensor selection, and driving technical decisions.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the design, development, optimization, and validation of sensing systems and components.
  2. Hands-on design and validation of prototype hardware and maturing the design by characterizing and debugging test vehicles to optimize your design
  3. Evaluate and implement state-of-the-art signal processing techniques
  4. Coordinate with external partners and suppliers to leverage cutting-edge technologies.
  5. Support sensor selection, evaluation, and bring-up, including root cause analysis on field failures or yield issues.
