The Ford Pro Intelligence (FPI) Telematics team is looking for a strong Staff Software Engineer to build web applications and services that result in useful, reliable, secure products for our customers. This team creates back-end services and APIs that are used to help customers understand, manage, and control their fleets of vehicles via web, mobile and API applications.
What you'll do...
The Staff Software engineer will be responsible for the architecture and leading development of core API services, data pipelines, and frontends.
• Product And Requirements Management: Participate in and/or lead the development of requirements, features, user stories, use cases, and test cases.
• Architecture and Design: Architect and design solutions for large projects that cut across multiple teams in FPI and partner teams in Ford Engineering.
• Project Scoping and Planning: Effectively scope and provide timelines and capacity needs for large projects.
• Develop/Test/Deploy: Lead development of projects involving multiple senior and mid-level engineers.
• Raise the Bar: Raise the engineering bar within the organization by proposing internal tooling, frameworks and processes to better improve efficiency and service quality.
• Incident, Problem, Change/Service Requests: Participate and/or lead incident, problem, change and service request-related activities. Includes root cause analysis (RCA). Includes proactive problem management/defect prevention activities.

You'll have...
- Bachelor's in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- English proficiency (written and verbal).
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in back-end API development, with deep proficiency in modern languages such as Java or Kotlin.
- 5+ years of experience designing, optimizing, and managing relational databases and complex SQL queries, specifically with PostgreSQL.
- 5+ years of hands-on expertise with cloud-native infrastructure, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable providers like AWS or Azure.
Even better, you may have...
- Experience with frontend development, particularly frameworks like React/AngularJS
- Highly effective in working with other technical experts, Product Managers, Dev Ops, Big Data, UI/UX Designers and business stakeholders.
- Experience with RESTful interfaces and OAS standards.
- Experience with Springboot services.
- Experience with pub/sub architecture and in general other cloud capabilities.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $132,800-$250,800.
This position is a leadership level 6 and ranges from $150,200-$283,500 (California residents). Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
