In this role, you will collaborate closely with partner teams like Dataplex and Dataproc. As a member of our small, early-stage team, you will have excellent learning and growth opportunities.
You'll be a part of the BigQuery team, where you'll be empowered to design, implement, launch, and land large-scale, impactful projects with the necessary support and guidance, and a large pipeline of enterprise customers waiting to use your features.
You'll be instrumental in shaping the architecture and future of BigQuery's metadata management capabilities.
You will be focused on improving Federation support for BigLake. This includes support for major strategic partners such as Salesforce and open-source standards such as the Iceberg REST Catalog.

Responsibilities
- Be responsible for all data and metadata federation aspects and expand BigLake to other clouds, partners like SAP and Salesforce.
- Work with storage, networking, and analytic engine leads to creating a technical roadmap for cross cloud analytics. Lead execution, including delivering some aspects personally.
- Work with Product Managers to create a comprehensive product that aligns to this roadmap.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software engineering and technical leadership.
- Experience in storage, distributed computing and data analytics.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with open source systems such as Apache Iceberg, Spark, etc.
- Experience working with partners such as SAP, Salesforce, etc.
