Staff Software Engineer, Coreos Agentic Engineering

Google Google · Big Tech · Sunnyvale, CA +1

Staff Software Engineer role focused on Agentic Engineering within Google's CoreOS. The role involves conceptualizing and validating AI-driven strategies to optimize compute performance, leading teams, designing and developing large-scale software solutions, and building tools for monitoring and testing. The focus is on integrating AI into operating system engineering, testing, release, and support processes.

What you'd actually do

  1. Drive projects by conceptualizing and validating novel AI-driven strategies to optimize Google’s "Node-level" engineering and global compute performance.
  2. Lead, coach, and influence a distributed team of 3-5 Kernel, Node OS, and AI experts, fostering a culture of rapid execution.
  3. Design, develop, and maintain large-scale software solutions, ensuring alignment on goals and timelines across cross-functional teams.
  4. Debug, fix, and optimize complex issues while staying current with upstream practices to ensure non-disruptive rollouts across the fleet.
  5. Build tools and dashboards to monitor production demand and quality, implementing testing to minimize production issues.
